Sean Bertram’s new album, “Everything Again”, reminds us of his ability to take the confluence of sounds in his imagination and sculpt them into breathtaking sonic reality, delivering lyrical messages which take the familiar and make them fresh.
Already an experienced singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he has also added arranger/recordist and mixer to his C.V., as evidenced by the bold and ambitious arrangements on this album. It is fitting that he includes his interpretation of Brian Wilson’s “God Only Knows” side-by-side with original works which honour Wilson’s penchant for crafting extravagant arrangements that swirl effortlessly through our minds.
Produced cross-continentally in Canada and the U.K., and accompanied here and there by Jared Gershon (drums, production), Rob Purkiss (drums), Shirsha (vocals) and Emily-Rose (vocals), Sean’s songs come to life and leap out of the speakers to remind us what it means to love deeply, to bear the weight of the world, to grow, and to do it all – everything – again.
